Geotechnical Site Investigations are undertaken to determine
ground
conditions and engineering properties of soil and rock in a given area
prior to
the construction of any structure in/on this area in order to determine
suitable foundations. Various field methods are used including testpits,
trialholes, boreholes, DPSH (Dynamic Penetrometer Super Heavy), DMT
Field
Computer (Marchetti Dilatometer for soils only) and DCP (Dynamic Cone
Penetrometer). Disturbed and in-situ soil
samples are taken to, and analyzed by an approved soil laboratory. Below
are
some pictures taken on site during the piling phase of the Mozal
Aluminium
Smelter Project in Mozambique where our services were subcontracted out.

Materials Investigations determine the suitability of
naturally-
occurring soil or rock that could be used as a construction material.
The
available quantities are calculated from field data gathered from
testpits and quality tests are
carried out on samples by an approved laboratory. Strip ratios are
calculated as a final
determinant of a potential borrow-pit. Distance from area of interest
and transportation costs
to this area are calculated
in determining economic viability.
Laboratory Testing of field samples includes: Shear Strength,
Grain Size Determinations,
Atterberg Limits, Moisture Content, Density, Consolidation, Swell
Potential, Compaction Tests (Proctor),
California Bearing Ratio (CBR), Aggregates, Concrete and Asphalt.
Joint Surveys are carried out on exposed rock faces in
excavations,
road cuttings and underground mines with the Q-system of Barton
to determine
possible slope or wedge failures of the haningwall. A line survey is
carried out
along the rockface, using a measuring tape and brunton compass to gather
all
necessary data which is later input into Stereonet ver 3.01 pc program
which
then draws stereonets showing areas of wedge failure. Our main area of
expertise
is in the South African gold mining industry.
Exploration of natural resources such as coal, CBM
(Coal-Bed-Methane) and petroleum deposits is
done by means of borehole drilling and geophysical surveys .
Data captured in this way reveals the presence, extent, quantity and
quality of
the natural resources. Soil/rock surveys are carried out to determine
the
engineering properties
of these materials around the borehole drilling machines as well as
along routes of existing or planned oil pipelines or
telecommunications cables. The RQD (Rock Quality Designation) is
an
important parameter reflecting the strength of rock, and is calculated
from
solid borehole cores during logging. Subsurface probing methods include:
Soil Borings (auger, pneumatic, diamond-bit),
Piezometers, Groundwater/Gas Monitor Wells, Coal/CBM diamond drilling
and Soil/Groundwater Probes.
Wellsite geological services are offered on a rotational basis
for the drilling of all types of petroleum and natural gas wells all
over the world.
Data logging for Airborne Magnetic Surveys was carried out at a
remote
ground station in Sicily on behalf of GeoSolutions and it's
clientfor the
Italian client. The data
logger and sensor were set up 50m apart on a quiet part of the coast.
Recordings
were taken daily over a period of 30 days, ensuring constant
communication and
coordination with the survey aircraft and main ground station. The
latter was
situated some 150km away. The photographs below show the instrumentation
used.
The sensor had to be anchored down firmly to minimize the buffeting
effect of
the wind which causes erratic data capture. The data logger was
sheltered at all
times from possible rain.
2) IT Services
Services
offered:
Website Development, Publishing & Management
Website Promotion, Reporting, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Page Submissions to top multi-language Search Engines and Traffic
Analysis
Analyzing Business Requirements and Defining Solution
Architectures
Distributed & Desktop Application Development with Dot Net
and
Java
Websites for professionals and companies are constructed,
published
and managed using up to date technologies and tools. Webmasters
first consult their clients to determine the needs and the target
audience of
the client. This is essential for effective web design.
Web Promotion is the next logical step. Having a website is
pointless
unless it can be found by means of an internet search. Our tools
automate all the necessary tasks to achieve a top 10 ranking of our
client's
web pages in all the major search engines. Firstly, the Reporter reports
on
the current status of a website as determined by the search engines.
After
this, action can be taken to improve the rankings using the Page
Generator which
optimizes web pages. The Page Critic will then analyze
these
generated pages or existing pages to advise us on how to further
fine-tune them
in order to optimize their content to rank higher on each major search
engine.
Once the pages are ready, WebPosition uploads them to the website. The Submitter
then automatically submits all optimized web pages from the website
to all
of the major search engines. The Traffic Analyzer reports traffic
to each
page and what keywords were used to find them. We then go back and
re-run the Reporter
to monitor our client's progress over time. This process guarantees
success.
Our client's business requirements and existing computer systems are
first analyzed by
solution developers and then suitable Solution
Architectures are defined. 1-,2-, and n-tier architectures can be
implemented depending on the client's needs and future growth prospects.
We
provide optimized solutions for our clients' computing infrastructure
and
systems requirements.
Distributed and desktop applications are developed by solution
developers with Dot net and Java and
relational databases (SQL Server/Oracle) are developed for various
organizations.
Businesses requiring online shopping interfaces and database
connectivity for
their websites need look no further. We are able to deliver. Our
developers are
Microsoft Certified Professionals.
